Mrs. Crofoot

I decided typing is red was a perfect fit. The universal color of love - because that's what I am, in LOVE.

October 5th, 2010 I got engaged.

Getting engaged means I will be marrying my best friend. He will then become my husband, my best friend, the father of my children, and my #1 supporter. I can't wait to spend my life with Joe Crofoot.

All girls dream about getting engaged... about the proposal, the guy, the ring, the life, but absolutely nobody could have prepared me for the feeling I felt when Joe said those words, "will you marry me?" It was a feeling of love, happiness, excitment, and a sense of security. Knowing he chose me, he loves me, he feels the same way about me as I do him.

So - as any happily in love finace would - I would like to share our proposal story. The full story, all the juicy details. So enjoy our love story...

Joe and I went looking at engagement rings sometime in January 2010. We learned about diamonds, and what makes a good diamond, more importantly how much a good diamond really costs... ouch... However decided quality of the diamond was much more important than size. We then looked at different engagement ring styles, tried them on, and got my ring size. From that wonderful (and FREEZING) day in January Joe never really spoke about engagement rings again. I would humor him saying things like "let's go look again." That was the only time we looked, from that point on Joe did the ring shopping on his own.

Then my birthday rolled around... and I was almost POSITIVE he was going to pop the question, but instead... it was a surprise party. Then it was 4th of July and we were going to Madeline Island, and I thought... FOR SURE this was it. Then it was our anniversary... still nothing. By the time September rolled around I had given up. I had put an engagement completely out of the question for this year. I was okay with it, I was still a very happy/proud/in love girlfriend. May Joe and I booked a trip to Cozumel. It was going to be our "Christmas," since I can't take any time off work in Decemeber. It was going to be our first time being alone on a vacation, no family, no friends, no work, no cheerleading, nothing. Just us, to be us, together. We were there a couple days (3 to be exact), and decided it would be a good night to dress up a little and go to a nice dinner. Of course they didnt have any reservations until about 830, or at least that's what Joe told me.....???!! It was about 630 and Joe and I decided to walk to the beach and watch the sunset. It was beautiful... Just ask Joe, he took almost 900 pictures of the sunset. At the time I remember thinking "the sunset is gorgeous, but come on!" Now I understand he may have had a couple nerves...

The sun set, and I decided to use the restroom. A restroom with no tp, but that's a completely different story. When I got back Joe and I started talking about our "future life," and he said "before kids we have to get hitched." I just laughed thinking "yeah... duh!" He then said "I want to be with you forever." To which I responded with "I want to be with you forever too." That's when his voice trembled a little bit, he pushed his chair back, and I thought we were getting ready to leave. Instead he got on one knee with a ring in his perfectly round fingers and said "Well then will you marry me?" I couldn't speak... until finally the words "OF COURSE OF COURSE" came out while I was squeezing him tightly in my arms.

I couldn't believe it. I was shocked. I was going to marry this wonderful, gorgeous, perfect, patient man... my best friend Joey.

Once the shock of the reality calmed down my first question was "Does my family know?" We were in Mexico, not exactly an easy place to make a phone call home with the great news. He had asked my father sometime before we left, and my family was aware what was happening in Mexico for me :)

We enjoyed the rest of our Engagement vacation together, before going home to tell his family (who didnt know), and all our friends the great news.

Pssst.... if you're wondering - the ring is perfect. It's absolutely everything I wanted and more. I catch myself staring at it all the time... and others staring too - it's really THAT beautiful.

Come back for wedding planning posts....
